The Jesus Prayer and Knotted Prayer Rope: a way of prayer using body, mind and spirit

In ancient times, without a clock, how would you know how long you spent praying or meditating - when to stop?
People probably used small stones or made knots in a rope to count the time passing. Over time this way of meditating developed in two ways - in the West, the Rosary prayer beads, and in the East, the 'Chotki' or prayer rope with the Jesus Prayer - both authentic expressions of the teaching of Jesus and the Christian mystics who followed him.
The Knotted Prayer Rope is a contemporary way of prayer from these ancient spiritual traditions. It is beautifully simple and helpful today.
